Abandoned Payphones

We were at Mr. Perry’s last night at about 11pm. Great food, by the way. I asked the hostess as we were leaving if there was a payphone, and she said the closest one was at the gas station across the street. I then asked if there was a place in the resturant where a payphone used to be, and she said no. A woman was sitting nearby, and heard our conversation. She told me she had a payphone in her purse that she could use if I was having an emergency.

“I have a payphone in my purse if it’s an emergency.”

Is this the Steam Punk that all the kids are talking about?

At the Yosemite Falls Cafe in west Fresno. It’s not connected to a phone line, and it also has buttons on the dial, meaning it was made recently. My question is, why get a replica antique phone that has been thoroughly modernized? They are not really cheap, at least not inexpensive enough to justify putting one on a wall. If this was a functional payphone, it would fit into the theme of the restaurant for sure, but it seems to be just an expensive shelf filler.

Borders at River Park in Fresno, just to the right of the cafe. Apparently three payphones is just two to many in Borders. The one on the left has a good sized wire hole, while the middle one has a metal plate over the hole. Was the one on the left stolen while the middle phone professionally removed?

Is that a painting of a fishing lure above it?

From Marie Calendars in West Fresno. It’s in the space between the men’s and womens’ restrooms. Nice wire hole.
